So I sent in my ATI X800XL for RMA a couple weeks ago, and today I received a X850XT. Now I have a generic power supply rated at 380W. Looking at the power supply label, the brand is DEER.

In the end, I need a power supply that is cheap, will have enough power to power my new X850XT. Can you guys please help me choose a good power supply from Canada Computers or Tiger Direct.

I took a look around at Tiger Direct and found this power supply Ultra.

At Canada Computers I found this power supply Enermax, and this Cooler Master.

Can you guys help me choose which power supply I should get? Thanks.

That power supply seems a bit expensive at $110 after rebate. But lately, I've been hearing about that Corsar power supply being an excellent product. How about those other 3 power supplies. The Ultra, and the Cooler Master. I don't think the Enermax one will be able to power my rig properly. Better safe than sorry.

How about that Ultra power supply. It's cheap, it has enough amps and enough watts. I just don't know about the reliability.

Deer is a bottom feeder, Ultra started as junk buckets but have gotten better - I wouldn't buy one anyway. Fortron has always had a reputation for reliability but I don't know much about this new budget line.

nathelion,
OP is in Canada I'm thinking he meant 100 Canadian which is around $90. US.

The Enhance ENP-5150GH sells for under $70. here. Here it is:

Probably the best PSU you can buy for that money period. The Silverstone Element 500 is similar just dressed a bit fancier. The Antec Earthwatts series are made by Seasonic for another option.

If you intend to keep your system as is, then even the PSU in my Sig would do you. The Enhance if you need some elbow room for future upgrades.

Thanks for your input guys. But I had to buy from Canada Computers, and I had to choose between the Corsair HX520 or the OCZ GameXStream 600W. My dad and I chose the 600W, and I will now install this new Power Supply into my rig. Since this is my first time installing a power supply, wish me luck.;)

I was just about to make my recommendations from Canada Computers. The Corsair HX-520 (Seasonic rebadge) was first, the Antec Earthwatts 500 (Seasonic rebadge) is second, and the OCZ (Fortron rebadge I think)was third.

I have a Corsair 520, and OCZ ModXtreme, and a Seasonic S12 and have had NO problems from any of them. OCZ makes awesome quality products, you should be pleased. As for needing luck to hook it up, not a problem. Just make sure everything that you unplug the old power supply from gets something from the new PSU plugged in.

Ya, I finished installing the power supply yesterday but never got around posting since I was busy updating BIOS, and reinstalling Windows. But now I have everything setup.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Of those 3, the Enermax is the only one you should choose. Ultra and Coolermaster are far from the best, while Enermax is one of the higher quality PSU makers, and that enermax would definatly be plenty for your rig. The Corsairs are great too.

You need to check out sites beyond Newegg on occasion.

Just about anything would be an upgrade from a DEER 380W.

you have much the same setup I do. with an efficient psu you can probably get away with 450W. But 500 would be my bet. Maybe the antec smartpower line? definitely something with a 12cm fan or larger...

Ultra Lifetime Warranty
To ensure your complete satisfaction, all Ultra Products Power Supplies and Cases now carry a three year warranty that they will be free from defects in materials or workmanship. In addition, that warranty is upgradable to a LIFETIME warranty by simply registering online. At Ultra, customer service is our most important mission. That?s why every Ultra product must meet the highest industry standards for quality and reliability. And our warranty program is second to none.

With a warranty like that, how can you really go wrong? I have had Ultras in the past and they always did great for me, never had a problem at all, in fact I have my eye on this one or the Rosewill one when I have the funds to get a sli, dual rail, psu.

I have the non sli version of this psu with a single 12v line with 26amps on it for almost 2 years, also without one problem and all my volts are steady and perfect every time I have checked.
