Need an intense workout routine to get in shape

I haven't really worked out in awhile and want to try to get back in shape. I want an intense workout routine, and I'm willing to put time into it. If you guys have any advice or could maybe link a guide I would appreciate it. Thanks.

EDIT:

Some details:

Age: 18

Height/Weight: 5'9"/145 lbs

Type of program:
Heavy cardio, a little lifting. Basically I want to cut body fat.

i need one too. i am getting married in 3 weeks and need to be able to dance all night without toppling over. help. 😛

A good workout plan is 50% exercise (cardio AND weights) and 50% diet control. So, my suggestion would be to focus on diet as well.

i am not going to get into the routine for ya, but i will say have some good music to listen to. it makes you move and thereby inspires calorie burning.

What your going to do is wear my patented ruber vibrating heat suit and pump yourself full of an unbelievable amount of crystal meth! Cody will keep you supplied.

i have a laser pointer, it works well for my cat.

i am willing to provide my service for free, in return
you let me tape you chasing the red dot, and allow me to show to all my friends

Don't forget the mental aspect.
And spiritual...can't forget about spiritual

[Edit] Ok, that's enough BSing...what are your workout goals?

I don't want to get huge just want to trim down, get a little definition. I dont really have much fat, but what I do have since I haven't worked out in a bit I want to get rid of.

I dont really have a problem with the diet since I eat little to no junk food (hardly ever drink soda, never eat chips, barely eat any candy, etc) already and eat pretty healthy.

I am planning to get in shape for the last 2 years, but simply planning and thinking would not suffice. Have a nice controlled diet along with the work out plan. Good luck

I find it easy to just do random excercises while watching TV or when either getting ready for bed or waking up...
ie... pushups, wall sits, situps, holding my arms extended parallle to the ground for 5 minutes at a time (good luck! 100 times harder than it sounds)

www.bodybuilding.com is an ok start. Look at some of the plans in forum.bodybuilding.com and see how people critique them. If you're serious about this, and most people are not, then a little reading won't be a problem, and that site should give enough. People will be more than ready to help if you have specific questions, but normally the "I need to get fit what do I do" is just too big a question to get a custom answer on.

As mentioned above diet is a big part of it. I'd say that for reaching one's appearance goals diet is at least 2/3 of it. You can workout a lot but if your diet sucks you have guaranteed garbage progress.

Go to your local High School or College swim team and work out with them. Guaranteed to get in damn fine shape...

I used to wrestle and during the season, I was in the best shape of my life. Didn't stick with it though, didn't find the sport fun and didn't see any reason to continue if I didn't enjoy it.

I am willing to bet most people who have read this at least attempted it...

You gotta give some more details than I want to work out.

What's your body like? How old are you? What kind of program do you want?

Getting in shape is 1% exercise, 1% diet, and 98% dedication. Find a reasonable cardio & lifting routine, manage your diet, and stick with it.

For workout, I'd recommend a minimum of 30 minutes continuous cardio (running, stair climber, bike, elliptical, etc) daily. It's tough to build muscle while you're losing weight so no need to get heavy into lifting. Pushups, situps, and squats daily should be enough to keep you fit.

For diet, moderation is the key. Multiple small portions of food throughout the day will keep your metabolism from spiking. Keep it between 1600 and 2000 calories a day and get rid of all the bad stuff (soda, junk food, fried stuff).

Stick with it and maintain discipline. You'll start seeing results in 4-6 weeks. Good luck.
