All,

I need to buy a decent case (with a 500W power supply) - am building a system based wiht Chaintech VNF4 Ultra mobo and Athlon 64 X2.

Am not planning to over clock the system, so dont need super efficient cooling, and I dont want to spend too much money on the case either. The only requirement I have is that the fans should be as silent as possible, and the case should also dampen the noise made by heatsink fan fairly well.

Can somebody suggest a good buy in the ATX mid tower range?

Thanks in advance.

No case is cooler than a P180...http://www.techonweb.com/products/productdetail.aspx?id=B73523 is the cheapest i have been able to find it at $105 + $27 s/h. Great deal. The psu compartment is at the bottom, making air flow much more easily. It is cooler than any case on the market right now simply because of that. And go with the new neoHE psu 550 watt http://www.techonweb.com/products/productdetail.aspx?id=C23662&src=FG for 100+27. The 350 watt ones are going for more than that at the antec store...Can't pass that up.

Hmm that case with the 500W PSU is an Ultra PSU . . . which is why the combo is so cheap . . . I've owned an Ultra 500W and while it ran fine, it's not what I would suggest for the system that you are getting . . . you'll want something with a little more juice . . . (i.e. Seasonic 510W, OCZ Powerstream 520W) The Armor is a great case certainly but isn't really cheap . . . check out something like the Tsunami or X-Navigator . . .

Well it depends on what else you plan on installing in your system . . . (GPU, hard drives, etc.)

That?s a misconception; any X2 system save for SLI high-end video cards would run fine on a quality 300 watt PSU.

And to clarify, the Ultra is trash.

Why do you say it is a good thing that there is no PSU?

Anybody owns this one:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications....asp?EdpNo=1419126&Sku=TC3J-4022%20KIT

It comes with a 500 W power supply too.

Thanks

First off thats trash.

Second off you don't need a 500 watt PSU. On a budget I'd recommend this Antec.

That Antec is a great choice, but I personally would recommend the Antec Super LanBoy. I use this case and it's quite wonderful. The included 120mm fans are whisper quiet and the built in HD rack keeps HD temps and noise down to a mininium.

I've got an Antec Super Lanboy and love it. Very light and looks nice. I've got a matching blue led fan for my cpu and using the silver ultra 500w with blue UV cables. It was a tight fit getting my two uv cold cathode tubes in.
