I was on chat in CS last night with a guy and we started talking about PC's and all...and came across the subject on Ram and Win98.

this is what he told me:

I told him that i had 320Mb of Ram in my system, and he tells me that Win98 can't use that much Ram.
says that it can only use 256Mb Tops.
said the system properties will pick it up as 320Mb,but will only actually use 256Mb of it.

only Win ME and up can use all the Ram he says.
i said i had Win98SE,and it didn't matter i guess.

Now i may be wrong, but i have never heard of this before.
and i argued with him for about 10 Mins on this..hehe.

Is this true?or is it a bunch of Bull?
kept saying he was a PC Tech and he knows..lol

any info on this would be appreciated.

Shawn.

Well, through my experience, I have found out that Win98SE uses up to 512 MB Ram.
Its pretty much a fact.
So tell your friend he knows I*&%*. 😛

Thanks for the info.

if i happen to see him again i'll be sure to give him the the Microsoft off of that link huanaku gave me.

that will clear it up for sure for him.

i thought it sounded crazy, cause i have 320Mb in mine right now and it runs fine.

i hate know it alls that don't know jack. 🙂

Thanks again.

Shawn.

Well i didn't say i was for sure.

i said from what i know of (considering my system running 320Mb with no problems) it isn't true.

but he guranteed it only took 256Mb.
he had the "I'm a PC tech,i know it all type of attitude".

never said i knew it all.
i'm a Dumb @ss on alot of things.
and this could have been one of thoughs things.

just going on what i have seen, and what my system is running.(plus 3 other buddy's of mine)
