My buddy's uncle is selling his 3 month old Hitachi 51F59 51" CRT HDTV and said he'd let me have it for $800 but I'd have to get it tomorrow because he's moving and otherwise his buddy is gonna get it. It has HDMI and component inputs on it, but before I purchase it I want to make sure I'll be able to use it with a computer once they ship with HDMI, or, if I can get a DVI to HDMI converter? In the manual they state the HDMI is not intended for computer use in bold, which can be seen here on page 10:

Is this true? If it is, can I use the component inputs with my X1900XT? I would LOVE to play Oblivion on this bad boy but if it's not going to happen I think I may pass on the television.

Thank you SO MUCH! 🙂

I was gonna tell you to check AVSforum but then I noticed you already have and did post over there. If they can hook up a laptop to it, I'm sure a x1900xt will work. But, just because it will work doesn't mean that you will want to use it as a computer monitor... Can you haul your PC over to the guys house and plug it in and try first?

51" CRT? that thing has to weigh a 1000 pounds.

EDIT: ok it's a projection set.

Yeah it should work fine with your 1900, I'd personally pick up a HDMI to DVI and hook it up that way.

Know of any places that sell these cables inexpensively? I'd like to have it before the weekend but if that's not possible, that's fine.
