I need advice from the Android folks here. I need an Android phone for T-Mobile. As I'm not that familiar with Android or the various phones, can someone point me to some of the better choices? I've looked at various reviews but came out more confused on what I should purchase than when I started. As this is for my father, and he wants to remain on T-Mobile, he's going to have to get an Android.

Does not have to be top of the line in terms of hardware power but shouldn't be too weak either. He's not going to be using it for any demanding things. He's convinced he needs a top of the line phone so I want to get him something decently powerful but it doesn't have to be top of the line. Main use is browsing the internet news sites, using an English-Vietnamese dictionary, and youtube.

Long battery life is a must. He sometimes forgets to charge his dumb phone, don't want him walking around with no battery on his smart phone.

Screen should be good. He's getting old so I want something with a nice screen.

I'd like a phone with decent build quality. Probably putting a case around it anyways but I would like a phone that doesn't look like it'll fall apart if you stare at it.

Budget, $300 and under after subsidization is taken into account.

Probably the HTC Sensation is the best Android phone for T-Mobile. For a technolgical person I might say the G2x but I honestly think for a parent, a slightly more user friendly phone would be best which is what HTC Sense provides. While I may not like Sense, if it was for a less technoligcal family member or friend I won't hesistate to recommend it.

A lot of people also hate Samsung but I like the Galaxy S 4G. It is a slightly smaller screen and is cheaper ($50). However, I much prefer AMOLED to LCD. You may want to take him to a T-Mobile store first and see what screens he likes.

I don't know if there is a long battery life android phone on tmos list other than the G2X. But the screen is meh. I was going to get that but couldnt part with the GS screen. I will be looking at the Sensation once I get solid battery life info on it.

sensation has pretty solid battery life, 2 days of light use from what most reviews around the web say. i think it is a no brainer on tmobile.
