Need an AGP card...

Looks like the best options out there are HD3850 or HD4670 from what I can see, both aren't what I would call cheap unfortunately. Card is for a family members PC who will be doing light gaming. Any other suggestions?

I think you should go for the HD 1950 AGP

The 3850 and 46xx are budget boards not meant for gaming really.

I believe the 1950xt is a faster AGP then the 38xx or 46xx but I wouldn't put my life on it because I haven't seen benchmarks...

If it's the DDR3 or 4 version of the 4670, then go with it. Or else go with the DDR3 3850.

@tweakboy: The DDR3/4 versions of the 4670 are quite close to the 1950. And not to mention the 1950 only supports DX9, and OGL 2.0. Whereas the 3850 and 4670 support DX 10.1 and OGL 3.2. And they can GPU accelerate Flash, H.264, and DXVA video. And also convert video using the GPU much quicker.

So it's more worth the money I'd say.

Uhh...HD 3850/3870 (only differs in clock speeds) was the top single-GPU performance/gaming GPU in the 3000 Series.

The HD 4650/70 is the mid-range single-GPU performance/gaming card for the HD 4000 Series, not the budget segment. The budget segment would be HD 4350/4550. The HD 4670 DDR3 is on-par with the HD 3850, both of which are faster than X1950 XTX by good margin.

The HD 4650 w/DDR2 is slightly slower than X1950 XTX. Plus, the X1950 is now legacy and driver support will be ending in the near future.
