His card has been ordered. We went with a Gainward BLIZZ 7600GT 256MB with DDR3. Thanks everyone for all the help!

The GeForce 6600 would be a perfect choice. The GT version will basically have faster RAM and this will have a minimal difference in performance to the non-GT version. It's cheap and the one on my dad's PC runs Hitman: Blood Money on full detail at 800x600 very smoothly, as it does HL2 at 1024x768 and with everything except AA maxed out. It's cheap too nowadays I think.

It's a little dated, like my ATI 9800 Pro, but...
