Well here is the story:

He has his license revoked around 4 years ago, and now since he has a steady job he finally wants to get his license back. He had a lawyer 4 years ago but couldnt go around paying him becuase he lost his job and bairley was surviving. Now what can he do? does he have to pay the laywer the full amount first before going to someone else? Also he has a warrent out for his arrest as well. I think becuase of not showing up to court on his court date.

Well i just need to know what i can do to help him. If you guys need more info please feel free to bump and add any comments.

He needs to clear the warrant first otherwise he walks into DMV and gets arrested a few minutes after they type his name in the system. To do so, he needs a lawyer. So, first hire a lawyer. After that, he won't need legal advice from ATOT anymore.

Ok, first step find a lawyer! Thanks

First step, come up with $1000 to hire lawyer.

Maybe. He should see if he qualifies for legal aid first.
Legal aid, what's that?

can you give a little more info about legal aid

legal aid is a private entity set up and funded with donations for people of low incomes who dont have enough resources to handle certain legal issues.

search for legal aid in your state on google, call the nearest office you can find. well...your brother needs to do that, they will take some personal info, then call him back (hopefully soon) about whether or not they can help him, and what the cost will be, if any

It varies from community to community but many cities and states offer low cost/no cost legal assistance to low income folks facing criminal charges. Since there is a warrant out for your brother, if he doesn't make much money, he might qualify.

He needs to take care of the outstanding warrant. I don't know that you need a lawyer to do that, just go down to the courthouse and say you want to pay the fines and penalties.

What was the offense that he skipped his court appearance for? If it was just a traffic violation he should be able to just pay the fines and be done with it. If it was something more serious like a DUI or a criminal proceeding he'll need a lawyer.

Oh, and his debt to the other lawyer has nothing to do with his current situation. He should be able to get everything resolved with the courts without paying that other debt first.

and also, the lawyer that he was supposed to be paying on a weekly bases didnt do nothing for him, does that mean he still owe that lawyer?

I think it was either, driving with a revoked license, or speeding 77 on a 45 or it could be both

If it was for traffic violations and not a real criminal offense, he need to go to the court clerk and say he wants to pay his fines and get his record straightened out. They will tell him what he owes and most likely will schedule a new court date during which he can show he's paid his fines and cleared up the outstanding issues and would like his license reinstated. Considering his problems occured so long ago, it shouldn't be much of a problem. He just needs to be ready to pony up a good amount of dough.

*** He might also be able to file a motion to vacate or dismiss some or all of the charges if he does pay up all his outstanding fines, etc. Many states define a clean driving record as having no infractions over a three year period.
