Hey all,

This is my favorite forum, so I am posting here since there isnt a "Sound" forum and if someone has one, I might buy it. Right now I have a SoundBlaster Live! which is probably about a year old or so... I think the MIC jack is messed up and I really need one. I am thinking about getting a Hercules Game Theatre XP if I cant get this one going. I guess what I am asking is...

Is the Game Theatre a better card?
Is the sound quality better?
Does it support dolby digital out?
Will it work in Win2k?
*EDIT Does it have anything like environmental audio? Will I hear sounds coming from the proper direction? IE. With my headset, if someone is shooting at me from the right, I hear it coming from the right. Great advantage on FPS games...
Will this card pose any problems on my Abit KT7A-RAID like the Soundblaster LIVE card tends to do?

Feel free to throw in any extra comments, I want to make sure I am getting the best sound possible and a kick ass product (I can say kick ass, right?).

Let me know guys,
Pete

The Hercules Game Theater XP is an excellent card. It does have enviromental and surround sound. My friend just bought one and they are awesome! So much better than a Sound Blaster Live Platinum w/Breakout and cheaper too! Definately buy this card if you have the $130.

Sound Blasters were the original sound cards for quality sound, and today they are just living off their reputation from the past. There is a lot of better cards without all the SB problems and their lousy irratating software.

I have checked out the turtle beach card, but like I said, I am leaning towards the Game Theatre because of the set top box...
