Hey AT'ers.... Gotta problem... Need to buy rollerblades by Sunday as I have set dates with two REALLY hot girls who love to Rollerblade.... I played ice hockey my whole life, and have skiied quite alot as well... I won't be doing any tricks or crap like that, just something for rec skating... My questions are should I get the hockey boot ones or the skiboot ones ?? What do more/bigger wheels mean ?? Any recommendations on brand ?? Money is not really a big deal, but I definitely want a pair that will be comfortable on my feet... Also look cool would be nice... Any help would be greatly appreciated...

And I can post a pic of one of the girls I set a date with if I get good advise.... It's a good shot of her showing her new belly button ring with her friend doing the same... 😀

THANKS !

Go to a store and they can tell you. It's been a couple of yeasr for me so I can't remember the difference between hockey boot and ski-boot when it comes to functionality.

the brand doesnt really matter. If you spend more than $100 you should be alright. But, check out the type of bearings and wheels. Make sure you get wheels that are meant for rec skating, as opposed to hockey or tricks. And, don't be cheap on the bearings. I wouldnt go for anything less then ABEC 5. They are really nice to skate on.

The basic difference between a ski boot and hockey boot is the ankle. the ski boot alows more flexibility while the hockey boot is more stiff so it protects it better. More wheels? No idea what that really does other than if being able to push with more power. Bigger wheels allow you to "roll" easier so you don't have to push as hard or as much. Brand? No idea now since it's been 4 years since i've played roller hockey, but for hockey, i got the Bauers. I guess it just depends on how much you can pay. heheh

If you're looking for comfort, get the ski boot. and remember to get something a bit bigger then normal. you don't want your feet all cramped up. like for me, i normally wear a 9 shoe. i'd get an 11 or 12 rollerblade.

and yes, you do owe us pics!!! 🙂

If you're doing recreational skating I highly recommend the ski-boot type. I own both types and I only use the hockey boot type for when I play rollerhockey. Hockey boot type skates give added protection, but partially at the cost of comfortability, and also the laces take quite awhile to tie up, you should know that being an Ice hockey player!

Bigger and more wheels are mostly for racing. Wheels that are separated more will help you keep your balance at higher speeds. If you're just doing recreational skating, you just need the standard 5 wheels.

Brand isn't as important as comfort is. Especially if you're spending a few hours in the skates for the first time, make sure they're EXTREMELY comfortable. I've owned skates that were comfortable in the store, but after skating in them for a few hours gave me huge blisters and lots of pain. I would recommend buying those wrist guards too, just incase you go down, it will help to protect you from breaking your wrists.

BTW- ABEC 5 bearings may not be a good idea for someone who is a beginner. Because of your ice hockey experience it might not be a big deal, but ABEC 5's let you roll continuously for a lot longer, and will help you in gliding, but may throw you off balance as well. I've found that ABEC 3 is a good starting point for beginners, but like I said, it maybe a moot point for you since you have ice hockey experience.

I own a pair of Bauer Vapor 6's, and I think they're great. I second the ABEC 5 or higher comment too. Definitely go for 5 or above.

Get a pair of Missions, and you'll be having sex before you get home. j/k 😉
I got myself a pair of Nike(yes, I paid for the logo) a few years back, hockey boot style(hockey boot doesn't flex/bend, skiboot does). No brakes on those babies, they're trickey to get onto, even when you've played hockey for 20 years. You'll go through alot of wheels, from dragging your skate.
It's tougher to buy inline's that it is to buy hockey skates, as there's so many more brands and options. Better start trying them on.

Get the hockey boots ones. They are more comfortable and you'll have an easier time getting used to them. Only get blades with 4 normal sized wheels. 5 wheels are for speed skating, the bigger wheels (like 5"+) are for offroading. The really, really tiny wheels (1" or so) are for trick blades. I cant recomend a brand because I haven't looked at specific models in a few years. I was looking at K2 fatty pro's last time I looked, they seemed to be the most comfortable/best blades I could find (a bit on the pricey side though)

Ah yes. I wear shoes size about 9.5-10.5 and ended up getting a blades size 11.5.

I like buckles because you can get going in a shorter amount of time, but laces give you a better fit.

I remember rearing somethign about these... I don't remember what though. 🙂 Skates

Depends on the brand. I wear size 10 shoes, bought 8.5 Bauer skates.

if you've been playing hockey all your life, you should definately get a pair of Missions, a real man's skate. Make sure to get hard wheels if you're going to be skating out side, not indoor wheels.

if you're willing to spend cash on better ball bearings, go for Abec 5's (at least i think they're the best ones)...but most missions come with Abec 3's, and it really doesn't matter if you're only using these skates to get laid.

holy shiznit! #15 is good, but "ryan&hotgirl" and the titties in 013_13 !!!! OMG! Do you know all of those girls?!

sorry, I don't know much about rollerblades. I have a pair of Rollerblade Lightnings that I got like 7 years ago. I don't use them much, but they're still good if friends are going skating or something.
