I'm taking 12 units, and I work full time, I know it's a small task for some of you, but I don't think I'm winging it. At the end of the day, all I want to do is relax, watch TV, or play games. I get distracted easily, I can find myself doing things that aren't even related to each other, and none of them are completed before I started on another. That and I'm a bit lazy also, I only devote my times to things that are interesting to me (anything that has to do with fun). I can stay up til the wee hours to assemble and play with my R/C cars, or gaming, but can't devote any time to studying. The subjects I chose are very interesting to me, not only I want to learn it, but it will help me to a better career path, yet I don't have the drive to learn it.

If I pick up a text book, I often find myself having to turn back the page and re-read what I've just read because I was distracted by something else and have forgotten what I just read. I know that I needed to study and do homeworks about three weeks ago, but I can't help it. I let one homework slide and now I'm three weeks behind. This ATOT thing is not helping me either... so, if you know an effective way or how to train my mind to have a good studying habit, let me know.

I'm being serious about this, quit school for awhile. Eventually, when you tire of the rut your life becomes, you will return to school as a motivated student. It worked for me anyway.

Actually, I think this is a reason for me not trying. My life is not in a rut, if I quit school, I would have more time to do more of the fun shiets that I usually do. I have a decent job, and I think therefore it doesn't create a need for improvement, even I want to. My mind tells me that I want to study to better myself, other part of me  says: "fcuk it, you don't need to". The hard part is to get the part that knows better to tell the other part to listen also. The irony in this is I know what my faults are, and yet don't know how to correct it.

I can't study period. I try to study at school but can't. I can't even write essays. If I have bs homework, I do it in school. Otherwise I somehow manage...

It's harder to get distracted, but it's not impossible. :D

The other day, I had office hours. 3 hours of nothing to do. I tried to do school work, but I couldn't. Instead, I set up wastebaskets at either end of the room and shot baskets with wadded up paper for 2.5 hours.

I had the exact same problem as you. It REALLY helped me to either stay at school and do work, or go to a public library or something where there were NO computers, NO distractions, and it was VERY quiet. Got everything done and got the hell out of there....very good feeling.

I am in the same position. I am distracted very easily. We just got a new library made, and its impossible to study, seeing how nice it is. I only study when I'm really screwed though, i.e. test in 12 hours.

I don't think there's much you can do about it though. You're either motivated to do it, or you're not.

An easy on campus job can do wonders. 6 solid hours of mostly sitting around of doing nothing twice a week. Good time to do homework.

hmm.. i know your being facetious, but this may actually work.

think about it, buy yourself a loaded gun, and point the summamaaabtch at your head, and tell yourself you will shoot your brains out if you do not finish up this chapter. when you feel like doing something else, look at the gun, pick it up, open your mouth, put gun in mouth and finish the chapter.
