As you may know, I have an MSI 648 Max motherboard which houses a sh!tty SiS 648 chipset. I also have a R9700 which I do not believe is being taken to its full potential. I've made numerous, obnoxious posts about everything with this motherboard and I've just had it with this motherboard. Should I buy a new motherboard? What make and model? How much will it cost me? How much can I sell this 648 Max for? It has the brackets, box and manual too. My computer is almost to what I want it to be but this motherboard is really holding me back, I believe.

Go to newegg.com and price out whatever you want. Why do you lean on the people here to tell you how much it is going to cost you? Throw your old mobo in the trashcan. Why would you want to pawn it off on someone else?

So this chipset is incompatible with every other video card also? Valid point I guess. I just need to know what motherboard is the best for this video card, that's all.

If i spent that much on a videocard... id honestly spend enough to pair it up with a better board. :D Hell, that videocard practically killed off the geforcefx even before it came out... :D

If you bought it LAST year... i would lose all Hope for the board. Get a Celeron 2GHZ and save it aside for a router or MP3 box. the SiS648 is plagued with the 9700Pro incompitability issues and does NOT support Hyper threading (yet) Since yours is older.. its no better than an 845 SDRAM chipset.

If I were you I'd wait until April until the new suckers from inTel come out. Or else buy an Athlon mobo (Nforce 2... Epox/Asus/leadtek) and get a cheap Athlon XP 1600+ and when the time is right get a Barton when it cheap before the Hammer's come out.

SiS make decent chipsets I find.. I haven't come across too many problems with their stuff.. that is dumb luck for sure.

Just get an 845PE board. something like an Asus P4PE or an EPoX 4PEA+ .. im sure you'd be working sweet with one of those. I have the EPoX and I love it. :)

My advice - post in the first forum, that's what it's their for.

BTW - Price checks are against forum rules.

If you're not going to be overclocking, then I'd say go for an Intel board, I love the stability in mine...
