Need advice

Sorry if this is a lame question, but I'm new here, and would like to know what video card would you recommend for a $200-$250 budget?

Nvidia 7900gt or Ati x1800xt.

how much of a performance gap is there between the 7900GT and the 7900GTX?
I mean other than what I see in charts, in real life, do you actually notice the difference?

1)For 250$ get a 1800XT, extend a tad to get a 512mb version

2) For 350$ or so get a 1900XT, not a 7900GTX, 1900XT is overall a better buy

3)Ask somebody who has used both

Depends what resolution, if you turn on AA or AF, what games you play, etc. I'm not a person to buy the top of the line stuff, so I'd go for a 7900gt regardless. I can live with a couple of less frames if it means saving over $100 bucks in my pocket.

I don't know why others here are trying to stretch your budget by $100, but don't do it. Unless you have money to blow.

I have used both a x1800xt and a 7900gt if that means anything to you. Both fans are loud to me, but I won't be going back to ATI anytime soon until they fix their dual monitor issues. Alt+tab = pain in the butt.
