Need advice please on cpu

I am currently running an Asus P3B-F with a PIII 500 slot one processor and pc100 ram.
What I would like to do is find a socket 370 converter for this unit and upgrade to a faster processor but my question is as this board does not have but the 100mhz front side bus,
I don't think it will work as socket 370 seems to like pc133. If I add pc133 I only would create a bottleneck, I believe. Looking for suggestions on what I might could do?

pc133 should work fine, but at the slower speed. I will check around for a slocket converter. If you can, I would consider getting a combo deal and swapping out the mobo. Some combo deals are only a few dollars more than the cpu alone. Memory shippers has a socket 1 to socket 370 converter card for only $5 plus shipping. Type "slocket converter" in yahoo, and they will be listed first.

You would honestly be better off selling your current setup and going with a cheap AMD athlon setup. For the time and effort that you're going to put into upgrading what you have now it's not worth it. Not only that, but even the older P3 chips are pretty expensive.

I am open to finding another Asus motherboard that would do what I want but also don't mind experimenting with what I have.
