I upgraded to a P4 1.7ghz (256 PC800) yesterday :) but one thing im sad about is I gotta drop my V5 5500 agp, supposedly its not a true 4x agp so the damn thing doesnt fit in the intels agp slot. I guess im leaning towards the Nvidia family because I had a horrendous experience with ATI and promised myself id never buy a product from them again.

What im looking for is #1 superior 2D quality and #2 FAST 3D!

Your Voodoo will not fit in the AGP slot?

That is awfully strange, I do not currently
have a Voodoo but I was a long time fan.

Well if it does not work, the only logical
choice is NVIDIA.

The Voodoo5s run on a 3.3V AGP bus. The i850 Chipset (the one you have) is able to support only 1.5V to the AGP bus line. Thus they won't work even if you did get it to fit. nVidia/Kryo/ATi is pretty much your line of choice with the P4.

EDIT: What is your budget that you're willing to spend on a video card?

OK, well here are you best options in the Nvidia family at various price ranges:

1. Leadtek ti500 - supposed to have incredible 2D quality, better than even a Matrox G550. See review here:

http://firingsquad.gamers.com/hardware/winfastti500/

This has the fastest stock speed of the GF3's, but will only OC minimally.

price: $309 at pricewatch at the moment, there is a PNY version for $295

2. Gainward GF3

Reputed to have good 2D quality. This a the second fastest GF3 at stock speeds. Should OC well.

price: $238 at pricewatch

3. PNY GF3 ti200

Also reputed to have good 2D. This is the third fastest at stock. OCes very well.

price: $175 at pricewatch, also an MSI version for $168 which I can't comment on

4. GF2 Pro

This is your budget option. Isn't much of an upgrade from your V5, except maybe about 15% speedwise.

Price: $88 pricewatch, but go for a name brand, not generic

I have the Leadtek Ti500 and it rocks. Also those prices look a bit wrong as the Leadtek is usually cheaper than all the other boards, plus it has more features.

If you know of one cheaper, tell me where and I will buy it. Right now, that is the lowest pricewatch price. Leadteck is a middle price range GF3, always has been. PNY is frequently the cheapest.
