I woke up in time to snag that 650 ti deal so I did that, sounded like people thought that was a pretty solid deal and I have a bit of a preference for Nvidia anyway. I could still cancel it if there's a reason, though.

Is it pretty clearly superior to the 7770?

What's the distinction between a ti and non ti? Looks like my 670 is not a ti, hoping a 670 > 650 ti :D

I shouldn't be concerned this 650 ti will be too large or loud for her little case?

How is Galaxy as a brand?

Let me check real quick what the PSU I replaced her built in one with was... okay looks like I replaced it's default with a Thermaltake TR2 430w should that be fine for the 650 ti?

just check on that ram. See what's actually in there.

Also given Neweggs firesale on Samsung 840s (if they have any left and its in your/her price range) that would be a dramatic upgrade.

anand's bench.
It is quite a bit faster and uses about the same amount of power. That power supply should be fine. Notice that near the bottom of the benchmark page, total system power consumption is only 250 watts. I dont know what kind of cases you are used to, but the case is not really that small, a 650 ti should fit fine.

If you go to nvidia's home page you can get specs on all the cards. Just dont worry about the power supply figure. The one they list will be far above what is needed since they have to account for low quality units. The ti usually means it has more shaders or faster clocks, but a 670 is far faster than any 650 model.

As far a galaxy, it is a fairly well known brand, probably not absolute top quality, but I wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks for the info

This is my case:

Which is probably why I regard hers as small

"ti" is just something nVidia likes to stick onto the names of certain cards to tell you it's better than the non-'ti' version but worse than the next bigger numbered card. In the case of the 650/650ti though the 650 only has 384 stream processors whereas the 650ti has 768 so it's a pretty big jump.
