Need some advice here. I'm trying to keep the price on mobo cpu and ram around $500. Also know that I'm keeping my dual 8800gts's.

Ok so awhile ago I was set on a C2D build but now that the Phenom 2 is out it sorta complicates things for me. I'm looking for the best cost/performance ratio I can get. Problem is that from what I've read the 790x chipset for the AMD boards is superior to the nvidia chipsets which I need for SLI support.

So should I stick with my original plan of a C2D mobo ram build or go with the Phenom 2?

Any suggestions on what hardware to buy for around $500 would be greatly appreciated.

I live in the US and will be buying in the next week or so. Primary use would be gaming/transcoding. OC'ing is not a major concern to me though some capability would be nice.

Thanks guys,

just read this "workarounds exist to get SLI working on non-nVIDIA boards" can SLI work on 790gx chipsets?
