Need advice on trying to get a sublet

I wanna sublet an apartment in NYC because I'm doing an internship here. I have no "house finding" sense. I'm still in undergraduate so I have no knowledge of what to ask when it comes to finding a place to rent. Do you guys have any advice for a noobie?
 
yeah i know that. I was asking more for advice on what do i do after i found a bunch of apartments to look at. Obviously i go check them out, but what questions should i be asking? (i.e. should I ask to see their bills for their rent so i know I'm paying what their monthly rent is)
 
it doesnt matter what they pay. only thing that matters is what you agree with them to pay.

figure out your location
figure out your budget
start looking at places until you find one that you like
