Need advice on treadmills

My wife used a treadmill at her brother's during Thanksgiving and expressed a wish to have one for herself at home. Her bday is the day after Christmas, so I might dig deeper into my pocket to get her something she will actually like and use.

So the first thing I did is check Craigslist. Offers are all over the place, but how do I pick one? My method has always been to check Amazon for reviews, and make a short list. But treadmills seem to go from $399 to $3000+. Even if I eliminate the extremes, will I need to shell out $1000+ to get anything decent?

Today's woot offer (Sole F63 for $649.99) looks great, but for the usual caveats : older model, some bad feedback (on Amazon) about software problems that might still crop up, etc. But seeing that its original price is $1900, is it still a good buy?

How do the major brands compare? ProForm seems to be everywhere, how are Sole and others comparatively?

Wife weighs 130lbs and does not run, just walks. But she walks a lot, outside. This would be for the early mornings and late evenings when she wants to watch TV.

TLDR :

- Is Sole a good brand compared to ProForm or Nordic?

- Are the list prices ($2000!) for real, or do they regularly sell for half of list?

- Is it okay to buy a 3-4 year old treadmill from CL if I get it for 40% of the market price?
