Need Advice on scanning photos for Re-print

At what resolution should I scan photos which I then want to print and retain the best possible quality? I have paperport software which allows me to set the DPI for scanning and I'm not sure what to use.

I think you should PM Aquaman. Heck, he's been scanning his diver magazines for about 6 months now. He should be our resident scanning pro by now.
