Need advice on RAM problem

I've been having problems with my OS freezing up and assigning the blame to the video card. Today I put a new 512MB DDR 133mhz pc-2100 chip in and I seem to be free of the problem. Does anyone know why this would work better than the 512MB DDR pc-2700 that I had in? Do you think the older chip is flawed? Or am I setting my mobo incorrectly? Any advice would be helpful.

if you want to test a stick of ram run memtest86

by the way if your running a 133mhz fsb then there is no advantage to having pc2700 over pc2100
