Hello,

I am new to this forum, and apologize in advance for jumping straight in for workstation advice. However, anadtech has helped me immensely in the past! Currently, I am looking to build a mid to high mid workstation for 3d apps such as maya, max, etc. I have been an AMD person since the beginning, and now am moving to Intel for obvious reasons. Since I have never worked with Intel based systems, I would appreciate advice/tips/degradations/etc. on the following system that I am looking to build:

Lian-Li PC-6070B Plus II Aluminum Ultra Quiet ATX Mid-Tower
Thermaltake Toughpower W0105RU ATX 2.2/EPS 700W SLI Power Supply w/PFC

I've never been a fan of Thermaltake PSU's, they tend to have weak 12v rails, which is the most important rail on modern systems. The P5WDG2-WS doesn't have support for Conroe. The P5W DH supports conroe, but unless you are overclocking, you can easily get a less expensive 965 chipset board.

Thank you. Do you think that the P5W DH is worth shooting for, or should I stick it out once more boards push through

I'm getting the P5W DH myself, but only because I plan to overclock. There are already some lower priced 965 chipset boards that will work well.

I would also advise against Thermaltake, there is also no reason to go anything as high as 700 watts.

My suggestion would be for the Seasonic S12 series; 380-430 watts is plenty.

NF4 chipset boards don't support conroe either. Have to wait for the new nvidia chipset boards for conroe support.

EDIT: The Gigabyte 965 DS3 is supposed to be a decent board for conroe thats available now, and is closer to the $140 price range.
