Need advice on job interview situation

Hi
I interviewed with a company December 21 of last year and also another company a few weeks' ago. First job has been in good contact with me that they have not had made a decision yet and they are still waiting for two more engineers to complete their evaluation of me. The second job I interviewed with already made an offer to me and would like to know by the end of this week of my decision to accept or decline their offer. I would much rather work for the first company but at the same time don't want to lose out on the second one.

Is there anyway I could let the first interviewee know that I need a decision soon or should I just wait it out another day or so?

Thanks for your input.

Contact the first company and explain that you have a firm offer from another.

Explain that you would prefer the first company, but you can not wait past today for a decision to be made by them.

I think EagleKeeper's wording is fine. Assertive, not aggressive is the key. It's not unreasonable to expect a decision within 2 weeks, much less 3.

My guess is that it's bad news though. You generally know immediately whether a candidate is thumbs-up or thumbs-down (or at least, you should), so either they are disorganized there or not that excited by you.

No need, you didn't get the job, we gave the job to a kid by the name of PAB, according to his resume he has 4 bachelor degrees, 3 masters, and was nominated for pope. Sorry, but we will keep your resume on file.
