Need advice on DDR2 memory for AM2

I know some basics about memory, but I'm no expert. I read that on S939 systems, putting in 4 x 512MB sticks can hurt performance as the command rate has to switch to 2T. Now I don't know exactly what this is but I can understand this is bad.
Will there be something similar on the AM2 platform I have to look out for? In other words, can I buy two 512MB DDR2 sticks with great timings now and put in another two later on without performance loss?

That's an interesting question.... I am also would be curious to know the answer... Anybody? Who has got AM2 mobo already? And had a chance to go through manual - "Memory" section ?
