I am attempting to build my first computer. Overall, my aim is to create a machine that can play any game at the highest settings, while still remaining fairly quiet. In addition to FPS, I also play a lot of MMO and RTS games. Aside from gaming, I'd also be using this for music, hd video, internet surfing, some photo editing, and the occasional programing (still learning). I'm willing to spend anywhere from 2,000-3,500,

I am still considering a sound card and need a wifi adapter since I am not wired for internet in my room.

After looking at my build, please let me know if you have any suggestions or see any issues. Thank you.

We've got [thread=80121]lots of questions for you[/thread].

You shouldn't need to spend all that much - unless you want multiple monitors or higher resolution than 1080p. Do you?

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
US

5. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
no preference

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
first time building
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
I plan to run at default speeds initially, and overclock once I feel that I've gathered enough knowledge about how to properly do so.
8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?
I'm still not completely sure, but I am thinking about a 1440 monitor.
9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Note that it is usually not cost or time effective to choose your build more than a month before you actually plan to be using it.
I am looking to order the parts within the next day or so and build it once they arrive.

What you have there would work, but it's fairly overpriced for the level of performance it offers.

i5 4670K + Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI combo $335
Team DDR3 1600 16GB $130
MSI GTX 780 3GB SLI $920 AR
Crucial M500 480GB $220 AP
Seagate 7200RPM 1TB $55 AP
ASUS DVD Burner $15 AP
Antec HCG-850M $100 AR
Nanoxia Deep Silence 2 $90
Noctua NH-U12S $70
Crossover 27" 1440p monitor $460
Total: $2395 AR AP

Now, it should go without saying, but GTX 780 SLI will max out any game at 1440p and then some. You could step down to a single card and still get great performance in the majority of games. A single card would put you under $2k.

Looking at mfenn's build, I'd go with 4770K, the new EVGA 850 G2 with 10yr warranty, and I'd swap the U12S to the U14S which is better performing while costing the same. I'd also consider a beefier case in terms of cooling. Silent cases are nice but they're not really designed for dual nonreference 250W graphics cards
