Need advice on a big decision that will affect my high school life

I am currently enrolled in Segerstrom Fundemental High School and i am a freshman. This school is a brand new school, everything is new. Since it is a fundemental school, things are pretty strict. Homework cards (students sign a card for not doing hw with consequences gettin bigger), tardiness (same but for tardies), and dress codes (same but for dressing wrong). Everyone in my school pretty much hates it, but supposedly its a good school for my education.

Ive been thinking of switching to another school that is in my district, Saddleback High School. it is a public school and is much more lenient. However i have heard that it is not as academically challenging for college.. (dont know how much of this colleges actually look at). I am really tired of being in the fundemental school system all my life. Ive been in a fundemental school in elementary, middle school, and now college. Alot of people told me that high school should be fun and not like elementary school. I dont know if i should switch or not. I mean i want to have fun in high school but i dont want it affecting my chances of gettin into college.

Benefits of Switching:
Enjoying school
going to a school that is "set" (sports, activities, dances)

Cons of switching:
going to a "worse" school academically
moving away from friends that ive been with since 3rd grade

I think you should go where you're happiest.

What are your plans for college/university?

Idealy? USC. thats if everything works out

As long as what you bring to the table come application time gets you in, Iwouldn't worry about where it came from.

I would stay... it will take you time to get back on your feet in a new school after a transfer. You'll have a lotta fun in college. 😎

A great concept to follow with anything in life.

Do what makes you happiest and make the best of what you choose.

u was going to flame you for being 14 or 15 and having the name anarchy, but i've decided that, unless you can drive to see your friends, that would really blow.

what kind of school is this? i assume you're not in a geographical attendance zone, seeing as how the school seems very different from everything else. kind of like a magnet school for overbearing (likely asian) parents. do your friends have the option of going to a different school?

IMO, no sense in burning out for 4 years then having to go to school for another 4, or more. I'd switch..but maybe you are more motivated than me.

If you go to a school that isn't as good academically you will be less well prepared for college. However, since you already have had a rigorous education up to this point you should be able to jack up your GPA at the new school thereby increasing your chances of getting into college. Ironic, isn't it?

there are other high schools in your area that can offer top notch education if you're willing to do School of Choice- namely University High School in Irvine, Laguna Hills HS, Northwood, Dana Point, Aliso Niguel, etc....

other than that, Saddleback High is a decent public high school in a rich suburb. I don't think you'll have a problem getting into USC from there.

Name was taken from a movie a long time ago like when i was 9. Never liked the name but was too much work for me to change.

We are in a geographical attendence zone but in my district, there are fundemental schools that are made to "go back to the basics" which means that there are no elective classes like shop or home-ec, just the basic classes. Fundemental schools are supposed to be stricter with rules like uniforms and they hassle you on your homework.

Since i live in Santa Ana all of the schools are pretty much 90% mexican. My friends are mostly staying because their parents are making them. I on the other hand cant stand this school. Even some of my teachers dont like how the school is not giving freedom and responsibility to students

The only people I know that have said that highschool was the best time of their lives was the ones that never went to college.

I'd stick with your current school and have fun in college. I love college so much right now, most of my friends I've made so far I can see as being friends for life... Very few from highschool...

Uni and Irivine HS are not accepting out of district transfers for next year, others are pretty far

Have a friend who went to private school first 3 yrs then switched to public school for senior year. She turned out fantastic far as I can tell, got into good school and program, and I think she really enjoyed her year in public school. I'd switch just to have more fun, and I doubt switching would seriously detriment you in college. You'll be slightly less prepared, but if you do your work then you do your work, public high school isn't exactly going to cripple you academically in college.

Well im planning to take AP courses, as i am already in the honors courses right now. My GPA currently 4.268 and i am 35th of my class out of 760 Freshmen

It's been only 4 years, but I already can't comprehend being punished for tardiness. I have never gone to a class on time this quarter.
Transfering to another districtl as a Frosh in high school sucks though. Most likely people in that district already formed their clique. It will takea while to fit in, by the time you fit in, you are close to going to college.

WTF? That's slightly lower than an A+ average! Or are you not using a 4.0 scale?

Lower than an A+ average on a 4.0 scale..? I couldn't score higher than a 4.0 at my last school..😕

At my high school, an A was a 4.0 and an A+ was a 4.3.

not transfering to another district, its basically a school about a mile and a half down the street that i can walk there in about 30 minutes. I know alot of people there as some of my good friends go there (friends that will be a life time friend).

As for my current school here how it works,
1st time, warning
2nd time 15 min detention
3rd 30 min
4th 60 min
5th saturday
6th office refferal, saturday
7th explusion

Same goes with hw and dress code. in my school now, we have the same dress code i did in elementary.. tucking in shirts, no solid color shirts, must have a belt..
