Ok folks I need some advice from you guys. Due to me being laid off from current position, my parents have offered to pay for a MCSE Boot camp. I am currently running a W2K Server out of my house, as well as 2 W2K Pro machines. I do have some experience with the software. I know a good deal about W2K, and I read a lot about it. But here is the major issue: I freeze on tests. I get so damn nervous taking tests that my mind goes blank. So do you think a boot camp will help me? Also what are some of the better ones, I don't wan't to be known as a PAPER MCSE. No jokes here folks, my future employment is at stake here, so please I need some help.

Regards

I've heard good and bad things about them but I'd say go for it. You probably already know most of the stuff and taking the boot camp will only improve your confidence. Even if you're just know as a "paper MCSE" you can still get a job with it and once you have the job you will be faced with everyday real life situations, not tests. You will surely be able to impress your new employer with your knowledge. Sorry to hear about your job loss and I wish you the best of luck.

i'll be honest, i was able to pass the tests (so far) with just studying. I went to the classes but i'd not pay attention/not care, get home, read the microsoft ciriculem (sp?), study transcenders, and look at some dumps, and i'd pass.

GRANTED, i'm no computer novice.. i know my sh~t and i remember it.. some of the poor folks in the class never used a computer before.. anyhow, good luck on whatever you pursue

Take a class, read a book. I'm taking a class at my local College, along with my gen ed. The trick is to just study and mess with stuff at home. You've already got win2k server, and pro running at home.
BTY, I'm in my win2k server class right now... They're going over SNMP.

I do care what happens, and I have plenty of books. It is just that I have severe test anxiety. I freeze up on tests. People have joked about me needing a beer or two before each test just so I would calm down. Any suggestions on taking a test?

Get the trancendor series software.

The only way to pass the tests is to know what they are asking and HOW they ask it.

Having experience is good for jobs, but on the tests it could be very useless.

Haha, I wish I could take some sort of A+ class here. I'd never come to class and still get an A.

Exactly, if you go into the class and fool around, you'll just be wasting your time/money. I've been to an Exchange 5.5 course couple of years back and there were people like twice my age, but all they did was chat with teach other thru the course (probably b/c it's not their money, their company was paying for it).

You got to take it serious, and read up when you get home. Good luck!

Ok, looks Like Ameritrain has the best deal going, 4400.00 tops for the classes, tests and all materials. I am currently studying all I can folks. but I am just afraid to take the tests. I don't want to fail them and waste all that money.

With most boot camps you get to keep taking the test until you pass
