Hi, I'm new to the whole Mac thing, but wanted to get a iBook recently. (Yes, beacuse they look cool and the new switch commercials caught my eye) I want to use it for general apps and also for gaming purposes, but the new iBook only comes with a 16mb moble radeon chipset. I was wondering is there going to be a new one coming out anytime soon with better specs or is this model still very recent? Thanks for your feedback. Also how easy is it to do things on the Mac OS X compaired to windows since I've never tried the Mac OS before.

You must be one of the first people to buy a Mac for gaming purposes. Get a decent Dell or something with a mobile Radeon 7500 or a Geforce 4 Go. If you know anything about computers and you don't need it for 3d work or whatever Macs are good for, why get it?

Dude, if I were you I would head to an Apple retail store and try everything out first before buying an iBook online. I use OS X relatively frequently, and it's very nice, but it's also a LOT different than Windows if you've never used anything else.

Definitely check out an Apple retail store, since the guys in there actually know what they are talking about. If you ask anyone about macs in a chain store like Circuit City, CompUSA, or BestBuy, you'll never get any answers or learn anything about macs.

Here's a list of the Apple Retail stores....

There are like 3 games for the Mac. You simply don't buy a Mac if you're a gamer. Every mac user I know has a PS2 just for that purpose.

i have a solar powered flashlight and a waterproof sponge for sale. Makes a great companion to your gaming macintosh.

Especially since neither CC or BB carries macs :p

Last time you checked, being the key :) CC never picked up the new line of macs...all of their mac software was pulled back too. There hasn't been a new mac in CC in awhile. If your local store still has em, they are just the old display models they are trying to sell off.

Actually I was hoping someone would answer my questions of:

I was wondering is there going to be a new one coming out anytime soon with better specs or is this model still very recent?

Also how easy is it to do things on the Mac OS X compaired to windows since I've never tried the Mac OS before.

I'm not getting a iBook for gaming purposes, although I might install Warcraft 3 which is why I'm asking. I was also hoping that people who actaully owns or KNOW about the iBook or the iMac and the Mac OS X would reply, not just people who hate Macs for their various reasons (one button mouse, pricetag, slow processor, etc)
