I regulary use newsgroups for photos, and use Xnews for Windows. Im looking for something for my Linux box. I like Xnews because I can view a pic, and just click next to see the next one, full screen. Then I can download the ones I want.

Any ideas?

I use to use pan & tin a long time ago...as well as the netscape newsreader that was part of the browser bundle.
Haven't really kept up on what is good these days.

I use Pan on my mint machine. You should be able to find it in the software manager depending on which distro you use.

I've tried xnews to and it's ok but Pan is my go to reader. I like it so much that I installed it on my Windows machine. FWIW if you like xnews I'm pretty sure it is available on Linux to. I used it for awhile on my mint 17 machine.

How is Pan at handling groups with millions of posts in a single group? I gave up on NNTP a couple of years ago because there didn't seem to be a client that could handle the shear volume of some groups.

Sorry for the late reply. I don't use Pan for big groups like a.b.multimedia or a.b.teevee so I am not sure. The largest group I dl headers for is alt.home.repair and Pan seems to handle it no problem.

Keep in mind I don't use Pan for dl'ing binaries. I use an indexer+Sab for that. I only use Pan for viewing and sending text based content via Eternal September as my server.
