need Advice!!! for assemblying a Desktop

Hello there..

I was wondering if Games Like FIFA 12, Assasins Creed Revelations would run on medium to high settings on

Core i5 2500
mobo DH67CL
Graphics card Sapphire, XFX, ATI, HD radeon 6870.

Thanking you

Phoenix_89.

PS: I am new to the whole gaming scene and Assembly process 🙂

With 8 gb, yes it would.

Might not run future games so well but it would run those high now.

And then slowly degrade.

I assume your aware of getting a 2500 NON k chip and the H67 Chipset - and what this means ?

Thanks fr the reply...

But if i do get the 2500K i would need a stronger mobo to get it overclocked and then the HD 6870 should wrk fine ryt..

the following is the Configuration im looking at

Core I5 2500K
mobo DH67CL
Graphics HD 6870 either XFX,Sapphire or ATI
4 GB ram
500 GB segate HDD
==============

please Advice

If you don't plan to overclock then go with the i5-2400 and h67 chipset - cheaper. If you plan to overclock then 2500K and Z68 chipset - more expensive. You don't need an Intel board so look for best price/perf board from Asus or ASRock. The card is just fine, will run the aforementioned games which are not at all demanding on maximum settings.

I would go with 8 gb of ram, 4bg is ok but applications and games are getting bigger. with ram being cheap you can get 8gb now and you wont have to buy more later.

BTW. dont forget to list your Power supply!

For the little more money it would be, I would go with the 2500K and a Z68 board; if you live near a MicroCenter you can usually get a pretty decent deal on a combo. The mobo doesn't need to be anything superduper... I have one of the lower Gigabyte models and it works wonderfully... all this if you plan to overclock or the potential to upgrade at a later date. Personally, I would rather have the option and not use it, than want it and not have it.

Ditto the 8GB of RAM, the cost difference is nil.

If you are going with a 500GB HDD, I would suggest this. I have two and they are very good, if not the fastest kid on the block. I caught them on sale for $60 each.

Thank you fr the above.... jst wanted to know if i actually need overclocking for the normal gaming eg FIFA 12, Asassins Creed Revelations,Flight Simulator X, Dirt 3, Cysis 2, Hawx, etc
ive never done overclocking before so i5 2500 and DH67CL or a 68 chipset with HD 6870 gx card will do good???

I wouldn't worry about OC'ing now, just getting it together. No, "normal" gaming does not require overclocking, especially with mid range quad core Intel processors.

If you want to OC later, get the 2500k and z68 chipset motherboard.

If you want a nice, fast, stable build, the i5-2400 and H67 chipset is a great choice.

Thank you All for you Advice...

Since i am not going to be overclocking
heres the new config

Processor: i5 2400
Mobo: DH67CL
GPU: HD 6870 (XFX, Sapphire, ATI)
HDD: 500GB Seagate
PSU: Corsair CX500
Casse: Coolermaster Elite 310
=============================

Now that i have a clear idea what i need i will start with the assembly next week..

any more sugesstions would be appreciated 🙂

Looks good!

I would go for memory capacity from a reputable brand. I wouldn't get overly caught up in latency and speed so much as they have negligible returns on your investment. Based on that stance, I would recommend this crucial ram:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148476 <-- 8GB (4x2), $35 shipped

It's even nice and low voltage...

Just so you know, the *biggest* performance change you can make in games would be upping that 6870 to a 7950.

However, it is a pretty big change, but I want to make it clear that by far, the first thing to upgrade would be video as opposed to processor or anything else you have listed, since you're new.

Rule of thumb, if you're playing a console port you don't need a very strong system to max out details.

OP, if you are near a microcenter, the have kingston hyper x ram for cheap. 8GB of the 1600 is only $35 +tax. It's good ram.

While you gave very good advice, why should you use such words in public? Occupational hazards, would be understandable, but be wary of them though.

lol, what? I don't understand what you are trying to tell me here.

To this I would say buy the Kingston Hyper X 1333 for $30 because you can hardly tell the difference 😛 That's my purchasing preferences, however 🙂

"ROI" in a public place (not a finance oriented forum) is as bad manners as e.g. calling customers "consumers" on a not economics oriented forum. 😛

(And it was posted late on a Saturday night...)

Phoenix, looks like a sweet rig. No obvious bottlenecks, and easy to upgrade later with a (even) beefier video card for gaming, and a SSD for everything else.

[/desperate attempt to post something actually useful for a change]

Hah. I don't agree, but that's fine 🙂 ROI is not only related to finance, it is a central concept to technology and decision making. Calling it what it is puts everyone on the same page.

Why is it bad manners, really? I am curious.

By the way, just to give you another idea on how to make this new build really run smoothly - add a small 60GB SSD as your OS drive, and add a few of your favorite games on there. It will make a world of difference. A high-quality SSD like the Samsung 830 64GB would cost about $100.

It's not.

Also, I second on the RAM. RAM is so cheap right now that it's almost a shame to not get at least 8gb. Even if it won't make a difference right now it'll pay off in the future...

I remember the last time RAM was this cheap and I didn't take advantage of it, I regretted it...

Thank you Everybody for your Input.
I finally got the following config.

Mobo: DH67CL
GPU: HD 6870 (Sapphire)
HD 500GB Seagate
PSU: Corsair GS600
Casse: Coolermaster Elite 310
and an 8 GB raM
with windows 7 Basic O/s...

for now this wrks like a gem...... all my games run smoothly and without Laggin..

Thank you guys once again....the only thing missing is an SSD card which i will get once i save up some casu 🙂

OP, what display do you have especially the display resolution? Pretty important to determine if the video card is suitable...
