Well I have a problem. I have been running seti@home for long time now. At the beginning I dint know about the screen go blank so I have avaraged about 45 hours per WU. :)
Then I have found out about it and I had about 24 hours per WU. It was on my amd k6-2 400 with 64 megs of ram running on Windows 98 First edition and version 2.04. Then I have reformatted my HD installed win98 SE, and 3.03. Now I get about 35 hours per WU. I am not using that computer at all, its just running S@H. I dont know what is goin on. I need your advice on what I should do with it!

the 3.03 client is really slow. like 50% more work than the 3.0 client. so that may be a valid work time.

Not to mention that K6s are relatively poor at SETI. :(
I recently traded Fardringle the output of P2-400 doing SETI for a K6+ to do OGR for me. We both gained ~30% efficiency in the deal.

I know that amd's are little slower at S@H, but why have my WU's jumped from 24 hours to 35. That is my problem! Could it be the windows change or 3.03. Shoudl I go back to 2.04?

S@H no longer accepts connections from pre 3.03 clients so that is not an option.
You have hit it on the head tho, it is the switch to 3.03 that makes it take so long.
It's fairly simple, 24 hours plus 50% = 36 hours - or:
150%(24 hours)=36 hours

We are all in the same boat, all my WU's take longer too. The upside is the project is doing much more science now, so it's actually worth it in the long run.

Yep, we're all suffering the with the new 3.03 client. On average the processing time is about 50% longer than the 3.0 client. The only good thing is at least the SETI@Home crew cut off all previous clients so it levels the playing field.

you can do the processor trade thread thing to see if you can trade an OGR guy for a pentium 2 or something. increased efficiency makes the team better without even asslaminating.
