Need advice about mainboard problem

Hey,
I shut down my system saturday morning, with everything working fine. When I tried to start up sunday, the system was completely dead. The power switch would do nothing, no fans running or hardrives, nothing it was as if it were unplugged. I then thought it had to be the power source, so I picked up a new one yesterday and installed it. The same thing again only now the led on the mobo is showing that there is power to the mobo (ASUS P4t ). But nothing at all is running, it is still as if it were unplugged. I took the actual switch off the front of the case and tried another one from another PC that I have.... and found that the problem is not the on/off switch or the power supply. My question is, can there be anything else but the mainboard that would cause this kind of behavior? if any other piece of hardware in the system failed wouldn't the cooling fans or drives at least spin??? any advice would be appreciated....:disgust:

might be powersupply

try to clear the CMOS

if all else fails see if you can have your stuff tested on another system to make sure it works

I tried reseating RAM, nothing happened, even if ram was not working shouldn' t the drives or cooling fans start up when switch is on???
I have had errors in hardware before but they show up by the beeps from the mobo as it does test.
