Need advice about Flat Screen TV/computer monitor purchase

Just had a baby and the house is getting small in a hurry. I have to move my office to the family room where we have a TV. Because of the size/shape of the room, the CRT for the computer will have to occupy the same general area as the TV. Since two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time, I have a problem. My idea is to buy a flatscreen TV and eventually a computer monitor -- both of these should have no problem being "together"... When its time to watch TV, I'll just push a "little" computer LCD out of the way soo we can see the flat screen. Or... is there a way to watch TV on a computer screen? Any ideas with what to do here?

I would like to have at least a 27" screen for TV and a pixel res of 1280 x 1024 max on a computer screen (gotta keep the pixel pushing minimized to keep up the fps). Flatscreen technology seems too expensive at around 6K. I'm waiting for 27" technology to be about 1500 for a FSTV... Anyone guess when this may happen. Any advice based on the above? Is my problem solvable?

I know i'm igoring your price range, but check out the Panasonic PT-40LC12 and just split screen your computer & tv watching at the same time.

I'm waiting til June when the 45" one comes out to see if it looks as crisp and clear as the 40". If so, that'll be my new TV. :)

I really don't need to be able to watch TV and work on the computer at the same time although the idea is of some interest -- I'll look into that Panasonic...

What I'm most interested in is a good TV picture and a very good computer image. Not sure how this affects your advice but I thought I'd add these details... I still think I need to go with two separate screens or a good LCD that can also display a TV signal -- Can computer monitors currently display a TV signal?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I know there is an lcd that has a cable input, maybe other inputs as well. If I get some time I'll check around and see what I can scrounge up. The one I'm thinking of was only a 15" though, I'm not sure how big they get.

The monitor I was thinking of is a Samsung. Check out there MP line and see if any of those meet your needs.
