hii friends
i need advice,
i am going to but nvidia GTX560. i question is, i am having zebronics 500W PSU. and my PC configuration is

motherboard : nvidia nforce 680iLT
HD : 1 X 1TB
1 X 250GB
RAM : 2 X 2GB DDR2 RAM
PRocessor : Core2Duo 2.4Ghz
PSU : as i told Zebronics 500W

so is this PSU enough for GTX 560 for this configuration ?

Moved to PSU forum.

500W is plenty, but your PSU is not really 500W. Get a good quality PSU such as Antec or Corsair or Seasonic.

Definitely not with the Zebronics since it is very likely not true power and under the classification of super cheap PSU with higher than rated wattage. Spend a little bit more if you value your other components as well, stick with brands like Corsair, Seasonic, Silverstone or XFX.

Looks like the OP must be in India. Google shows several people who claim Zebronics is the worst PSU sold in India...and it doesn't appear to be available in the US.

Personally, I wouldn't touch one at all. OK, maybe I'd put one in the rig of someone I hated...😛

Antec is the "cheapest" PSU I'd use myself.

your pc with a gtx560 might not even start up with that psu. even if it did it will likely shut down immediately if you played a game or it could even burn out damaging other components. 22 amps is not enough to power that system under load.

at just 1280x768, a 5670 would be more appropriate for your system and should be okay with your power supply. what video card do you currently have?

TDP is 127W for 6850 and is faster than GTX 550Ti. If you presently run a 9800GT which has a TDP of 125w or 105w (depending on version) you should be ok with 6850.

i dont think you should respect anyone just based on how long theyve posted at some website, but thanks anyway. i didnt mean to be malicious at all, i was trying to infer the same things that have already been said. i didnt mean to be rude, but i did want to make a clear point. i have almost burned my house down from cheap power supplies... its just not worth it. $40 is a cost effective investment when your safety is involved. not to mention your computer parts' safety.

you said 1280x768 but did you actually mean 1024x768? if so you might as well just stick with your 9800gt. and even at 1280 a much faster card like a 6850 will be severally held back by your E6600.

Thank u friends for such good advice.... And I am sorry " wirednuts" for such rude attitude.
And from your advice I will buy HD 6850
thanks

I think a 6850 is a MASSIVE waste at 1024x768 or even 1280x768. not sure what the exact res actually is since you did not reply to my last post. and no way would I put a 6850 with cheap psu that was only rated for 22 amps on the 12v even when brand new. in other words there was likely never 22 amps in the first place under real world conditions so it would be even worse with some wear on it.

Go down 1 tier on the videocard and save $40. Then buy a quality PSU with those savings.

Problem solved.

I understand that you want to save some money but you shouldn't to push the limits of your PSU. A poor quality PSU can catch on fire very easily and ruin your whole system (not to mention burn down your house)

Remember that bargain basement PSU is likely rated at 0 or 25C, and if the OP is indeed in India he may be running it with internal PSU temperatures approaching 50C (35C+ ambient is commonplace). So those 22 amps when brand new, without capacitor aging and being run with ambient temps of 0C is probably closer to 15 amps sustained before something gives.

In other words, you're *really* pushing your luck with that particular PSU, even now.

I second the advice to get a quality PSU first, better CPU second and good video card third. At low resolution you won't see a giant difference at 1024x768 between a 9800GT and even a 6990.
