Hey guys, seems like you know a little bit on OS. I need to find a full version of XP with some academic discount. if i could find it on newegg that would be great. at this point i dont really care home vs pro, just need to shave some money off a system. and yes, I am in school so this is being done legally. thanks!

Nope, only 1 license per student/facultiy, and someday I may want to use windows. Plus that would violate the license agreement we have (says non transferable license)

is that legit? seems fishy, as i thought academically priced versions were only sellable through a school.

You can get it through your school or through an Authorized Education Reseller (like gradware.com). In either case, the seller must verify that you are a student. For gradware.com, you have to fax them a copy of your student ID or your class schedule and drivers license.

I bought Office from them a few years ago. Unfortunately, I'm no longer a student.
