Ok Guys I am selling my tri 3d monitor setup and trying to help the guy pick out a video card

What do you suggest.

We have been looking at the gtx 770 and the gtx 680.

Woah, er what screen resolutions?

If these are 1080p monitors, you're talking about a card that can push 3D at 120hz across 6,220,800 pixels, that's 746,496,000 pixels a sec

Compare that to the typical single 1080p screen at 60hz which is 124,416,000 pixels per sec. That should give you some idea of just how much horsepower that's going to take.

3D on 3 monitors? Try 3 Titans lol..

Yeah definitely 2 Titans, or maybe 3. Best solution for the cost is probably ballpark 3x 780's would work for a lot of games without having to sacrifice too much image quality.

I used to run it with 3 gtx 280 and it ran fine. (hot but fine)

Considering the gtx680 is at least 5 times faster then 1 gtx 280 I figured that should be fine. But I wanna make sure.

And thats with everything maxed in graphics.

Mind you that was with tess off

I remember wow was one of them but there was multi others that I enjoyed. But for the life of me I cant remeber what they are

Probably CS or some old stuff, surely nothing current.

I had 3x670s before upgrading to 2xTitans and they sure as hell weren't fine using "maxed graphics" in 2D (5760x1080), let alone 3D, in several modern games. Always had to tone something down to avoid dipping below 60fps.

A single card of any kind isn't going to cut it for what you want to do today.

Like I said I played many other games an no they were not all 8 + years old. I remember wow the most because thats the one I played all the time.

I know I also played starcraft and a bunch of others.

When I get a moment I will check out steam and see if I can see which ones.

I guess the lesson here is that 1 persons view of "runs fine maxed out" is another persons unplayable.

If you believe you were running Batman Arkham Asylum fine 'maxed out' in 3D across 3 screens with 3 x 280's then fair enough. It seems a stretch to me but there you go.

You may be right but like I said I believe all I needed to do was turn off the extras like tess and anti stuff like that.

Mind you it was a while ago and I may be remembering wrong. If I am im sorry I know that I had max resoultion on. That for a fact I know is correct. But you may or may not be right about the display settings. You guys have me questioning if I did.

You have to admin it can be tough to remember setting that you had on you display a few years ago.
