Need a video camera suggestion.

The family is looking to get my father-in-law a new video camera. Anybody have any suggestions, it needs to be under $300.

yep, just a bit more than we have. A bunch of us are going in togetherr, I dont wanna have to fork out any extra cash ;)

Sony's Hi-8 camcorders are pretty darn good. I just got one for my parents after lots of suggestions from ATOT here.

I paid 400 for one, but it has image stabilization.

If you can live w/out that, you can easily make your 300 dollar mark.

check them out on sony's page, and then to go best buy or circuit city webpage and see what their pricing is

hmmm...
you won't be able to get a MiniDV camcorder for that price ($300 or less), so I suggest you look at buying a Digital8. I'll see if I can find a good one.
