These are powerful enough to protect your Plasma hi-def TV. 🙂

Ya don't say? My bro has a 42" plasma and living in the PNW you never know when the power will go out cuz of a tree limb on a line or something. Think it would be enough to power his plasma? I might suggest he go get one if so.

My 50" Plasma is 480 watts. Look up his model and see how much power it draws. VA -> wattts is roughly 60% of the VA rating, so 1285 x .6 = 771 watts. Shouldn't have any problems in a brown-out.

Yeah but you'd want a generator for watching a movie during those blackouts

You're probably looking at a few minutes 😀

That's all you'd want during a brown-out. 😉

Link to Staples no longer works... wasnt the deal through next weekend?

It was, but it was a "special buy", which leads me to believe they got a good price on a shipment of them, and when they ran out, they were gone.

That is an awesome price for them, and the fact shipping is free on a 55lb item made the deal even hotter.

OT: I feel like an idiot asking this, but I still have no clue what B&M means. Does it mean 'in store only' basically?

I got one of these locally two weeks ago and it's pretty nice. Kept my computer on during three momentary outages from a storm last week, and I like how you can see the actual power draw on the unit. Now I just need to find one for my other machine.

The only slight annoyance is that the power light is somewhat bright and faces forward, so it's a little distracting in the dark. I need to find a better place to put this thing.

The one I got for my networking stuff is soooo overkill.

With my router, switch, Vonage box, and cable modem plugged in, I'm currently using 0% of capacity, and have a runtime upwards of 180 minutes..lol.

Haha! Please tell me you have a UPS for your system. "Hey honey the modem and network are online all the time! oh crap, you mean the desktop doesn't work when the power is out? doh!"

Yeah, the other one is on my main system, but my runtime would be terrible with a 22" CRT. If I have a power outage, I'd probably shut down my main PC, and plug my laptop into the UPS. I should get much more runtime from the lappy, and then if it's still out, I'd still have another 3 hours or so on the laptop's battery.

🙂
