Need a topic for Civil Disobedience

I need a good example of Civil Disobedience that I could tie into one of the following novels: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Crucible, Scarlet Letter or Beloved.

I don't want to do the Free Speech and Civil Right movements of MLK Jr or Rosa Parks because everyone else will be doing them and they will be too played out already. I'm looking for someone more obscure that few, if any would do.

Remember Civil Disobedience has to be non-violent, or else I'd be doing Bacon's Rebellion. 🙁

I don't think I've ever heard of successful civil disobedience. Sure there are little "feel good" events like when people protest globalisation or war but they never make a (big) difference.

I'm not a historian but did he truly accomplish much or just philosophize? Wasn't India going to become "independent" from their ruler anyhow? And did they really become independent?
