But for the other printers in our network mostly lexmarks.
Seems somebody wants usage reports and we can get those but only for the HP printers

SNMP should give you usage from most any printer with a build-in network print server.

Set up a print server and you can get this reporting capability.

If those printers happen to have parallel ports you can also get HP jetdirect print servers off ebay really cheap. They convert ethernet to parallel and have a web interface with all the features.

webjet admin can control many brands of printers. maybe not flash their firmware. but this is a selling point for HP - universal print driver - easy to use management (EWS,little wja, and the big boy web jet admin). i forgot the name of the in-between app for small businesses.

We have hundreds of printers across a WAN and webjet admin won't get usage for Lexmarks with the different IP ranges "I'm told'
Lexmark has markvision and xerox centreware but then we are running 3 different tools and compiling reports from 3.
Most of the printers would be SNMP enabled but how do I gather up this information from many geographic sites?

webjetadmin does all of that you setup a pc to act as a local group proxy essentially (similar to symantec endpoint in large state/country deployments).

these proxy agents phone in the information on their localnet to you.

Try to use webjetadmin - it can work with alot of printers and is far superior to anything anyone else has - trust me.
