Need a suggestion for a new MMORPG

Having took multiple characters to 60 (or near it), I've grown tired of the game. It was my first MMORPG, so although I founds it alot of fun, I don't really have any others to measure it up to. I don't have time enough to be completely hardcore (Which is what I found the end-game to be), so the fun sort of dwindled for me.

I downloaded the trial of EVE. I had read some reviews of it and liked the opened ended idea of it, with some true role playing involved, but it didn't keep my attention for very long. I may go back to it eventually.

Anyone have any suggestions of what to try next?

I liked Everquest 2 better than WoW. Sony also runs the EQ2 servers far better than Blizzard runs WoWs (less downtime by a long shot and less lag).

Here is EQ2's free trial. It offers the "noobie zone" to you for 7 days. It will let you get a feel of the game.

i'd wait until the new batch of mmorpgs comes out - Age of Conan is the one I'm looking out for.
the current batch of mmos just suck or don't have much population.

Well you've already given the one I normally recommend a shot but do feel free to come back to it, if you do ever drop by send me an EVE mail I play under Simon Monkoto. You might want to check out Lineage 2 and see if that works out for you or perhaps City of Heroes. Personally I cancelled my WoW account today, hadn't played it in a while yet I was still paying for it. May come back to it someday, just got to be too much of a grindfest though.

I might do that. Waiting on my new rig to arrive (X2 3800+ & 7800 GT :)), then I'll dive back into gaming head first!

OH, that's right. I totally forgot about City of Heroes (that might be saying something). I tried the trial of that as well. The character creation process was excellent, though somewhat daunting. The superpowers were fun, but it was an even worse grindfest than WoW, in my opinion.

Haven't heard much about Lineage 2.

I'd have to vote against EQ2. I found the trial to be quite boring, and having played EQ1 for years, Sony has really left a bad taste in my mouth. You need only read up about their recent rootkit fiasco to know what kind of ethics and respect they have for their paying customers (eg. none at all). Honestly there really isn't very much out there currently. Pick up Far Cry and enjoy a great FPS, for now.

Thanks for the input. Far Cry was a really great game, loved every bit of it :)

A good FPS would be nice, even.

L2 is the greatest grindfest, I quit around the point that it took me 50 monsters kills to gain 0.1% of my exp bar...

Oh and quests are pretty useless, theres so little of them and the only ones worth doing are the class change quests, which take about 20-30 hours to complete, so basically you are always killing monsters.

Stay away from it for your own sake...especially if you hate anime style characters.

Wait for VANGUARD

 I have high hopes for this title.

Same, i cant wait for this game. But, i hope they take their time and not rush it like Everquest 2. That game did not start getting close to being what it should have been at launch untill around 7 months after they released it.
