Need A Straight Answer

I'm trying to decide on what memory I should get for my rig that I'm building. Right now my rig well have a eVGA 680i motherboard, eVGA 8800GTX, C2D e6600. I know I want to get memory that is DDR2 800, 2GB(2x1GB). First question is, the lower the CL the better right? I've heard that my best options are Crucial, OCZ, and Corsair and I read that I should get memory that uses Micron D9 ICs. I've heard that Corsair doesn't use Micron D9 ICs is this true. Basically I need to know out of these three links which memory kit is the best for me. Also I would like to not spend more then $300.

Corsair
OCZ
Crucial

Thanks for your guys help in advanced.

First off, before you go running out to buy your 680i mobo, have you read the number of problems related to this mobo? You might want to think twice on the eVGA and try an Asus P5B series.

Also, my vote is for the Corsair. With that pair of sticks, you will fly.

Crucial. They're the only ones guaranteed to get you micron D9 chips and they have a lifetime warranty.

Can't go wrong with Crucial as they're part of Micron. That's always my #1 memory choice, in fact I'm getting that same memory.

Just out of curiosity, what makes the D9 chips so good? I've heard of it and I know that you should get them if possible but what do the chips offer in the way of performance?

Edit: Good to know Crucial is highly recomended here because im about to buy some as well.

I'm no authority on this, but I think with the D9 it's basically they're the best to o/c. Plus, Micron chips are great quality.

Yes, I have read everything about the 680i board and I know of all the problems, but the new bios is supposed to fix the issues. Here's a great article about the recent bios: 680i Solutions

So from what I'm gathering is my best bet is Crucial because their defiantly going to be using the micron D9 chips. Newegg only has one Crucial that is DDR2 2GB(2x1GB) memory kit, is this the only one that I can get, and is it also a pretty good kit. Also has anyone used this memory kit with the eVGA 680i motherboard. If you have please tell me if it is compatible and if it works fine. Thanks

i don't know what's so fantastic about micron d9 chips. i don't know who made the chips in my corsair ram, and i don't care, they work absolutely great. memory should always be selected from the motherboard manufacturer's approved list. but hey, knock yourself out.

Nice thing about crucial is if you use their memory selector, they will gaurentee(sp) it to work, or your money back 🙂
