I tried a couple different free media encoders for my psp and noticed that most of them either have lots of ads or doesn't work properly. For some reason, most encoders that I installed will work for about a week and stops functioning due to some random error (won't encode the video, video w/ no audio, etc...), where reinstalling the program wouldn't fix the problem unless I do a clean install of the OS.

Can somebody please recommend me a stable and free encoder which will convert videos to mp4 for newbies like me, or provide some one time setup instructions for me. It must support both rmvb and avi files. The key is that the program must be ads free and robust as I'm really tired of all those buggy programs which fails on me after a week of usage. Thank you.

I use PSP Video ~9. Works great, even has a one click button that automatically adjusts everything. Not sure if it supports Real Media though.

I use 3GP Converter. Completely free and once you set it to encode in the PSP format (it can do more, such as Apple iPod), all you do is drag and drop. I've never had it stop working on me and the encodes are great. I've even encoded anime and put it on the PSP with no trouble reading the hardcoded subs.

Thanks you. I'm currently trying out PSP Video 9 as it is a lot newer than 3GP (released back in 2005). PSP video 9 does have a lot of ads though, but I guess I can live up with that if it functions well.
