My father has a cheap emachine and I think the sound is built in. For Christmas he got some of the logitech z560 speakers. I assume that he will not be able to hook all of them up because he only has one speaker plug in the back. He does not have a front and back channel. Is this true? If so what would be a good option for him. He does not play games. I thought of a soundblaster live 5.1 because the price is only $34 online. He does not want to spend much. I just think that card might be troublesome for him. I have one and an audigy and the soundblaster messes up on my sons computer from time to time. Thanks!!!

You also might want to open the case first to make sure he has an available PCI slot. Some E-Machine models didn't exactly come loaded with "upgradability". Here is a decent appearing sound card for $20 shipped. I haven't used it personally, but the onsite reviews look decent and I can vouch for the dealer. Newegg is rock solid.
