Need a SETI person with broadband for proxy test!

I have downloaded several WU's successfully on various machines, and have uploaded 4 so far, and immediately after they were uploaded, I checked with SETI and have been given credit for them. 🙂 (Looks like it's working for me!) 😀

I just switched to the CLI client to test that. I believe it got its first WU from SETI@home so I'll throw that one out and try to fetch another one from SETIGate.

All right, looks like it worked. 🙂

Just read the thread on the new setiQ.
I'll take a look at that tomorrow and see if it will better suit our needs,
logging and stats would be my main concern..
Any body else try it yet?

Look on the wish list page on the SETIQ site...I don't think the new SETIQ will connect to a proxy server. 🙁 I e-mailed Ken about it already.

I'll try it when I get home, but it seems to me that putting the SETI server addresses in the HOSTS file with OrangeKid's IP address would get it to connect to his proxy... (That's what I had to do to get the older version to connect, and it seemed to work fine.) 🙂

Good idea Fardringle, but I *may* have solved the problem. 🙂 See my new thread about the reply I got from Ken dealing with SETIQ and proxy servers.

I am changing the proxy test over to the new setiQ version.
ip and port will stay the same so no changes should be required by anybody.
let me know of any problems🙂🙁

😎 😎

Cool! If it will work it will be a lot less painful to administer, and very possible for a Round Robin since the Q doesn't really care where the results are coming from... (At least, the old version didn't..) 🙂

Doesn't the new SETIQ dynamically set the number of WU's queued for each user based on their average over a few days? This would be cool for a round robin setup, since each server would only end up holding a day or two's number of WU's.

I have a question Orange Kid. Does the new SETIQ automatically connect to the SETI servers to fetch/flush whenever a client connects to it, or does it wait for a certain time of the day?

Sukhoi;
to answer your question - yes.
it will fetch and flush at a certain time of day as well as connect each time a client connects. Right now I have it set to connect each time bypassing the daily time set. Also it does dynamicall set thresholds for each user.

Now to figure out its stats and where they are hidden🙂

SSCCCCHHHHHHWWWWEEEEEEEETTTTTTTT!!!!

If you take a look at the "browse" menu options, you can easily get stats on all of the functions/clients/queues of the SetiQ! All we would have to do is make the Server HTTP port available to the public Internet (could easily use the same IP and port as the Queue itself, and add in the Username and Email to the appropriate Queue directory for the client, and that client can then direct it's browser to the appropriate 'page' of the SetiQ status files and get the stats for that person!!

Sorry if that was rambling and hard to follow, but I got pretty excited when I saw that the program could do this.. 😀 😱
