Need a router recommendation

Currently own a Ubquiti Edgerouter X.
The router is not able to have both ipv6 and hardware offloading (hwnat, to allow for my gigabit speeds).
This is a long standing issue with Ubiquiti, and it seems like they could care less to get it fixed.
Can someone recommend a decent router to replace this? I don't need wifi, or anything fancy. I only have to hook my 24 port switch into it, along with my cable modem.

Sounds like you've outgrown Ubiquity gear, so... next step is an ITX PFSense box.

I haven't taken the plunge just yet, but I've got an ITX PC, with an ASRock Z370 ITX/ac mobo, with dual Intel Gigabit NICs onboard, and an i3-8100 CoffeeLake quad-core, and 8GB of DDR4-2800 RAM. Should be enough for a router. 🙂

Going to try an ER 4 router. Seems like it handles gigabit, IPv6 , hwnat just fine.

Thanks for the 2 suggestions though

no... the ER series to my knowledge was discontinued in lue of SG (security gateway), so they could unifi everything under the web gateway.

So if your going to stick with ubiquiti, i highly recommend you use the SG + Cloud Key.

Im about 80% positive that the SG can handle 1gbt. Double check on the ubiquiti forums.

ER just released the ER 4 a couple months ago. They are not discontinued

I would take the opportunity to try something different because my confidence in ERL fell when one died a few weeks ago seemingly because of a bad AC adapter. They also run hot without any load which is what made me nervous when I set two up for an Ipsec tunnel. Generally the only products I like from ubiquiti and think were designed well are the wireless variety (bridges and Wi-fi). I would suggest a mikrotik hex s.

I haven’t looked at PF sense lately but can they still offer adequate UTM capabilities for today’s threats ?
