Those are quite fragile. Do you listen at louder levels?

Here is a tip. Solder an automotive bulb like an 1157 in series with the positive lead.

How does this work? A light bulb filament is practically a short circuit when it's cold. The resistance is negligible so the effect on sound is also negligible. When excessive current flows to cause the filament to heat up its resistance increases. There is a shift in power to the filament so it will glow and "ballast" your voice coils to prevent damage. Some people will even mount the lamps where they are visible so they can tell if they are over driving their speakers! Of course your ears should be able to tell you that but you never know. 😉
