Yes, it'll support IDE drives... what mobo doesn't? lol.. read two posts above yours, look at the picture it has 2 IDE slots a blue & white one, also look at the specs: PATA 2 x ATA 133 up to 4 Devices... come on now.

Sempron is better than duron.

It is not very realistic to build with new parts a computer for $300.00. Maybe you can find a used AthlonXP computer for that price. Lots of people are trading up to Athlon64, so their old motherboards are probably for sale. New an Asus A7N8X 400 Ultra is only about $76.00. You can see how fast the cost goes up when you have to add DDR SDRAM and a Processor, and a Hard Drive and what have you.

You can purchase a new Asus A7N8X-X Motherboard for about $63.00. This version does not support Dual DDR so it is a little cheaper.

I have seen some used or overstock DELL P4 Systems for sale at places like www.amazon.com for a little over $300.00 but they probably were the business computers with no AGP Video Card.

** You can save $31 by getting Sempron 2400 Processor which comes with heatsink/fan for $63: http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819104210
** If you want to spend a little more get a refurbished radeon 9800 pro for $110 - $120.

Winner!!! Nforce 2 with IGP is by far the best performer for what you want to spend. You can always add a better AGP card later.

Man, I wish my epox RMA was back. I could sell you my used system for $250 + shipping (still needs a case), but has a 2500+ barton and a 9800pro among other things.

:(

Holy cow. I just now realized you said WC3, and not WOW. I was losing my mind wondering how you can build a $300 system to run WOW.

I should have had that cup of coffee...

dat seems to be good choice... im leaning towards it.. minus the DVD rom and hard drive.. it's $240... not bad at all... in case i get those components.. how much should i set aside as video ram and for system ram?

#1 It's not ready yet
#2 I haven't tested my processor to make sure it works for sure still
#3 I'm probably going to try to sell it for $275 + actual shipping if I sell it online due to the hassle. I'm trying to sell it for $250 locally right now (Madison WI)

2500+ Athlon XP
Epox 8RDA+
512mb pc2700
80gig WD
ATI radeon 9800pro
350watt enermax PSU
Wireless keyboard/mouse
52x cd burner
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz

So, still needs a case + monitor + speakers for a full system.

I'm not going to part it out because the 9800pro is a good chunk of the overall value of the system.

I've seen WOW run on a Nforce2 IGP... under 30fps, but totally playable.

hahahahaha, I was thinking the same thing..
I was like what the heck, spending $250 on a crappy computer to play some advance graphical game that required monthly subcription. It's a waste of money.
but then... it's a different story if it's WC3
sorry for my foolishness
