Need a raid controller.

Looking for a raid controller.

The following must be true:

Supports Raid 0/0+1/5 (JBOD, 10, 50 - Not required but would be nice)

4 Sata I (Perfer more) (Even perhaps combo sata I/II ports would be ok but it must have 4 or better)

Must be 32bit PCI* (Could be PCI-E 4x, or PCI-E 1x I suppose. Cpuld also be PCI-X since they are backward compatible)

Must have cpu of its own and bios of its own (this rules out about 95% of desktop PCI cards)

Perfer a bigger vendor (adaptec, tekram, siig, cerc, etc) all though not required.

Any ideas.

The nice requirements is stepping on server level terrority.. Areca will do you better but its pci-x and backward compatible with PCI.

Any reason not plugging PCI-X into a PCI slot ?

32bit PCI is going to be slow anyways. 😛

EDIT: What OS are you going to be using? That could determine availability too.

I do agree with the Areca suggestion though, I know I want one.

True..but tis cheaper than upgrading my board to a board that has 64bit pci, also cheaper if you can find a only 32bit card with the features that i have listed...and it wont be any slower than the onboard raid which...$#@$%^ me over

Right now I am using media center and 2000Pro.

I do digitial video editing for all sorts of events and what not. and well put it this way. While I do have a linear system. I do most of my soft edits with adobe premier pro 2.0 and media 100 HD suite. Lets just say I suffered a raid crash that if it wasnt for the linear system i would be hosed. now granted you might say...you should be running a workstation machine and not a desktop level machine...this is true. but this is what im presented with and well...im not going to build a new machine when I got a perfectly good machine right here.
